Has your brown bin gone missing? Are you moving and unable to find the bin for your new address? Learn how to get a new bin.
Brown bins are used for the food waste collection in 15 boroughs.
In four other boroughs, Lachine, L’île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, Pierrefonds-Roxboro and Saint-Laurent, brown bins are used to collect green waste and food waste as part of the organic waste collection.
Brown bins are provided free of charge.
A beige, seven-litre countertop bin is also provided the very first time a brown bin is delivered to an address. Thereafter, no new countertop bins will be provided for this address.

In order to get a 240-litre bin, please call 311.
We will take your contact information and the bin will be delivered to your address.
If your large 240-litre bin is stolen, you must complete an online police report and receive the final report (number beginning with MTLEV) before contacting us.
While waiting to get your bin
You can ask your neighbour to share their bin temporarily or, as a last resort, place your food waste in the household garbage.

Until there is a collection, daycare centres, schools and small businesses can use community composting sites.
Small businesses that generate little food waste (bookstores, pharmacies, hair salons, etc.) can also use these sites.
Restaurants and stores
If you generate a large volume of food waste, you must hire a specialized company and obtain a permit in order to place their container on public property.

Only the owners of a residential building (and the representatives of an organization entitled to a bin) can request a 120- or 240-litre bin.

If you lose your bin or if it disappears or is stolen, you can complete an online police report before contacting us.
