Bins are provided free of charge to buildings with 19 units or fewer. 
The recycling collection is free for all residential buildings, and you must take part.

• You should use front-loading containers (not provided by the city).
• If you are managing a new building, you must call 311 to request collection service.
• If you manage an existing building and choose a front loading container, you must contact 311 to register for front loading collection. Collection days may differ from those for wheeled bin collection.
• If you already have rolling bins and one of them is damaged, you can buy another one in hardware stores. Buy a 360-litre blue bin with European grip.

Maximum number of bins provided free of charge: 6 large 360-litre rolling bins. 
Collection is free for 6 large bins or fewer, and you must take part.

If your needs exceed 6 bins, you’ll need to hire a private recycling collection and bin supply service.

If your needs exceed 6 bins, call 311 for an assessment.

Small bin

To get a bin quickly, call one the three following éco-quartiers to check that the format is available, then go in person with proof of residence (hydro bill, tax account):

• Éco-quartier Parc-Extension
• Éco-quartier Saint-Michel–François-Perrault
• Éco-quartier Villeray

Large bin

To get a 360-litre replacement bin, call 311.

While waiting to get your bin

You can ask your neighbour to share their bin temporarily.

Once you have your bin

Use a marker to write your address on the bin. If the address fades over time, write it again so that it is always clearly identified.
