Following a rigorous evaluation process led by the Bureau d’Art Public de Montréal and its jury, the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro is delighted to announce the winner of the competition to create the public artwork for the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Aquatic Complex.

The aim of the competition, in compliance with the Québec government’s Politique d’intégration des arts à l’architecture et à l’environnement des bâtiments et des sites gouvernementaux et publics, was to select an artistic creation designed specifically for this building.

The winner of this competition is Montreal artist Frédéric Laforge. Known for his innovative and expressive sculptural works, Mr. Laforge was chosen for his unique and inclusive concept, which reflects the Borough’s diversity and community spirit. The work titled “Tous les corps ont quelque chose à dire” will be installed in the front area, near the two entrances to the main entrance facing the boul. de Pierrefonds. This creation is intended to enrich the urban landscape and encourage strolling and discovery, thus contributing to the dynamism of the area’s cultural itinerary.

Details of the work:

The concept proposes a series of four sculptures distributed at the building’s main entrances. These works feature characters of different sizes and colors, sometimes oversized, sometimes truncated, and oriented around meeting and water.

With a focus on encounter and water, Laforge’s proposal reflects the diversity of residents and the variety of recreational and community activities taking place at the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Aquatic Complex. The sculptures also symbolize inclusion and encounters, values dear to our community.
