Lachine Adopts 2025 Budget and 2025-2034 TCIP
At a special meeting on October 15, Arrondissement de Lachine adopted its operating budget for 2025.
Totalling $34 million, this rigorous budget allows for investments in parks, roads and municipal buildings. It is based on a strategy of expenditure control, funded as follows: transfers from the central city ($24.4 million), local tax ($5.8 million), revenue from local sources ($2.3 million) and appropriation of surpluses ($1.5 million).
About the local borough tax and the TCIP
Council members also adopted the ten-year capital investment program (TCIP) for 2025-2034, in the amount of $36.7 million. Loans taken out under the TCIP will be used to maintain and repair infrastructure, parks and buildings as well as to improve the quality of the living environment through new facilities.
The local borough tax accounts for only a small portion of the municipal tax bill. It has increased 3% from 2024, from $52.54 to $54.12 per household, and the rate per $100 is down from $0.0471 to $0.0437. Adoption of Ville de Montréal’s budget is expected in December.
