The 85% rating clearly demonstrates its investment in its two libraries (Saul-Bellow and Saint-Pierre). For the Ribbon 5 award, the Arrondissement de Lachine was evaluated according to five indicators: 

• Its spending on acquisitions to refresh collections and invest in a wide range of cultural content 
• Extensive hours of operation to guarantee accessibility to services 
• An area that corresponds to the size of the population served, in order to offer quality services 
• Adequate seating capacity to reflect Arrondissement de Lachine’s desire to make the most of the library space 
• Trained and sufficient human resources 

A bonus awarded to Arrondissement de Lachine for abolishing late fees contributed to the rating assigned by the BiblioQUALITÉ program. 

In 2023, Lachine’s libraries made 280,000 loans to some 14,000 members—a sign of Lachine residents’ appreciation. These facilities, invigorated by the staff on hand, undoubtedly meet needs in terms of culture, education and personal development activities.
