LocoMotion is coming to Saint-Laurent
To mark World Bicycle Day and close out Bike Month, Saint-Laurent is launching LocoMotion, a citizen-led initiative offering cargo bikes and trailer loans to promote active and community-based mobility.
This initiative, open to all, allows residents to borrow cargo bikes and trailers for their daily trips. Whether it’s transporting children, doing groceries, or moving a piece of furniture, these tools offer a practical, eco-friendly, and user-friendly alternative to cars.
A community-driven project
LocoMotion Saint-Laurent is the result of a collective effort that began last fall. It is coordinated by a committee of five volunteer residents, in collaboration with the LocoMotion network and several local partners: the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Saint-Laurent (CJE-SLA), acting as the project’s trustee, VertCité, the Bon Courage Community Centre, and the Comité des organismes sociaux de Saint-Laurent (COSSL). The borough of Saint-Laurent also supports the initiative both logistically and financially.
Thanks to the commitment of these citizens, supported by the LocoMotion team, the project was brought to life and adapted to the specific needs of the neighbourhood. Their involvement was key at every stage, from design to implementation.
How to borrow a cargo bike or trailer
The process is simple and completely free. Just register at info.locomotion.app/saint-laurent by providing proof of identity and address. Once registered, you can reserve a bike or trailer in just a few clicks. Details about borrowing procedures and equipment locations will be shared soon. In the meantime, you can sign up now to receive updates and be notified when the initiative officially launches.
Meet the volunteer committee
To raise awareness about the initiative, the volunteer committee will be out meeting residents at various locations across the borough. Dates and locations will be announced shortly on the official channels of the borough and its partners.
