How the community garden works

The Le Michelois community garden has 106 garden bins. Only community garden members can use them.

The members elect a committee to oversee the community garden from the beginning of the growing season to its end. 

To get a garden bin, have your name added to the waiting list.

How the George Vernot open garden works (currently under construction)

The George Vernot open garden is located right next to the community garden Le Michelois and has 18 garden bins. Each bin is assigned to a person at the start of the season on a first-come, first-serve basis. At the end of the season, the bins must be emptied so they can be assigned to new people the following year.

Rules for the open garden

Please follow these rules to help maintain a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in the garden. 

• Only the designated gardening area can be used for gardening.
• You can only harvest from your own bin. 
• Plant only annual vegetables (no perennials).
• Take care of your bin and remove all weeds regularly. 
• Collect your waste and bring it home for residential collections.
• Do not let fruits and vegetables rot in your bin.
• Empty the bin at the end of the season so that new people can enjoy it the following year.
• Do not move or alter any equipment provided by the borough, such as tables.
