This commemorative square is located just outside the Parc metro station, at the junction of rue Jean-Talon Ouest and avenue du Parc.
Description
Completed in 2001, its origins recall the nearby Jean-Talon station, now known as Gare du Parc. It was designed by architect Colin Drewitt. Inaugurated in 1931 in the presence of Montreal mayor Camillien Houde, the Jean-Talon station replaced the Mile-End station located at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Avenue Bernard. At the time, all trains bound for Québec, Ottawa and the Laurentians, including the legendary Petit Train du Nord, passed through Jean-Talon station.
