Montréal is inviting citizens to practice safety measures in case of an earthquake
Montréal — The yearly earthquake drill will be held tomorrow, at 10:17 a.m. across the entire province of Québec. As part of this awareness and prevention event, the city invites all citizens to practice the recommended safety measures at that time.
Montréal encourages citizens to practice the safest technique in case of a major earthquake, which is to: drop, take cover and hold on until the shaking stops.
Every year, on the third Thursday of October, the Great ShakeOut of Québec is held across the province. The drill aims to raise awareness regarding the dangers of earthquakes, and to encourage the population, their families, communities, schools and other organizations to review and update their emergency response plan and survival equipment.
In addition to promoting appropriate measures, it also aims to encourage participants to enhance the safety of their living environments, and limit the risk of injury, the loss of human lives, as well as material damage.
