New Ecological Transition Committee in LaSalle
Montréal — At their regular meeting on Monday, June 5, LaSalle’s elected officials tabled a draft bylaw providing for the creation of the LaSalle Ecological Transition Committee. The relaunch of this committee (formerly the LaSalle Sustainable Development Committee) is a priority for Borough Council members.
With its 2023-2030 Strategic Plan, the Borough of LaSalle has made commitments, particularly with regard to ecological transition, for a green and resilient future. As a result, the LaSalle Ecological Transition Committee will be an important player in supporting the borough and strengthening the momentum for change in favour of ecological transition.
Mandate
The main mandate of the Committee is to make recommendations to Borough Council on ecological transition.
Objectives
- To stimulate exchanges on practices aimed at accelerating the ecological transition
- To raise the profile of ecological transition organizations on the territory
- To help neighbourhoods adapt to climate change
- To inspire residents and encourage eco-responsible practices
Committee members
The committee will be composed of at least five members:
- Two Borough Council members
- One resideliving in the Cecil-P.-Newman district
- One resideliving in the Sault-Saint-Louis district
- At least one member representing a school, environmental, health, economic, social development or related organization
Ad hoc guests may be added as needed.
