The Pierrefonds-Roxboro libraries are seeking to collect 500 written memories by citizens and neighbors of the borough as part of a writing project by the poet Fortner Anderson, the author in residence.

Current

Submit your memory of Pierrefonds-Roxboro

The Pierrefonds library was to host the poet Fortner Anderson in 2020 for a residence lasting several days. As part of his writing project, Mr. Anderson proposed to meet citizens to discuss, explore and collect memories.

The Project

This cultural mediation project which will take the form of a collaborative text is entitled The memory of a place.

This text will consist of 500 sentences written by patrons of the library and more generally by citizens of the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. Each participant must, in a single sentence, describe a personal memory linked to the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. In addition, each sentence must contain only one verb. Eventually, the full text will be presented to the public.

Participants are free to choose a memory of their choice, which can be commonplace or extraordinary, which speak of historical events or just of ordinary life.

A Virtual Meeting as a Communication Channel for Sharing

In the present context of the Covid-19 pandemic, face-to-face meetings cannot take place, but the author is not idle! Since he cannot meet you at the library as planned originally, he invites you to meet him via the Zoom platform according to the schedule presented below. Come discuss and exchange, bring your memories to the surface, and bring our beautiful borough to life through your memory.

Contribute to the Project

Anyone and everyone is invited to participate in The memories of a place.

There are tow easy ways to contribute:

  1. Send us your memory of Pierrefonds using the form you will find here.
  2. You can speak with the artist who will be present virtually on the videoconference platform Zoom, at the event of 3 different dates (see dates and details below).

Rules

Here are the three rules that you must respect to submit:

1.The memories must be about the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro;
2. Each memory must only be a single sentence;
3. Each sentence must contain only a single verb.

Contributions in both French and English are welcome.

For example:

“Every morning my mother drove me to Riverdale School.”

“One day in winter, I jumped over the wooden fence in back of my uncle’s house.”
