Prix Janine-Sutto

Last updated April 16, 2024

This award recognizes the talent and artistic practice of a person living with an intellectual disability. It promotes art as a vehicle for integration while highlighting creative projects undertaken by vulnerable people.

Description

The Prix Janine-Sutto awards are an initiative of the Montréal Association for the Intellectually Handicapped (AMDI). Their aim is to highlight art’s contribution as an awareness and integration tool for vulnerable people, as well as promote and recognize the creative process specific to people with an intellectual disability with the goal of fostering positive images of them.

Montréal’s Accès culture network is proud to be associated with the Prix Janine-Sutto – an  association that dates back to 2011– and to underscore the quality of the work achieved by the MAIH. As part of this association, the Accès culture network offers a cash prize of $500 to the award-winning artist, and a $1,000 cash prize to the award-winning organization. The cash prizes are intended to shine a spotlight on the innovative character of their efforts to integrate Montréal’s artistic  and cultural community.
