Saint-Laurent/Lethbridge exchange trip: An experience of a lifetime!

Last updated November 5, 2021

This exchange trip has been jointly organized every year, since 1967, by the municipalities of Saint-Laurent and Lethbridge.

Saint-Laurent has been twinned with the City of Lethbridge in Alberta since 1967. Every year, an exchange trip is organized for the residents of the two communities. The participants’ age group varies from year to year, and so sometimes the exchange trip is offered to 14-16-year-old teens and other times, to adults age 55 and over.

What does this exchange trip involve?

Participants from Saint-Laurent are first twinned with those from Lethbridge, based on their common interests.

The visitors stay at their twin’s home for one week. The exchange begins with the Saint-Laurent delegation’s stay in Lethbridge late June and is then followed by the Lethbridge participants’ visit to Saint-Laurent in August.

During each of these weeks, group activities are organized to provide the visitors with an opportunity to get to know one another and discover the region. The program consists of both organized activities and free time. When no group activities are planned, the participants are entertained by their “twin”. Two days of free time are scheduled during each stay.
