Subsidy for companies to install electric charging stations

Would you like to install electric charging stations in the parking lot of your company or private institution? You could get financial assistance of up to $100,000 to carry out your project, whether you are the owner or tenant of your building.

Description

The program gives companies and private institutions located in the Montréal agglomeration the chance to get a subsidy to install electric charging stations for the use of their staff, customers and the public. It is possible for the same company or institution to submit several applications for different street addresses.

Eligibility

To be eligible, the company or institution must be:

  • A legal person governed by private or public law, a partnership, limited partnership or joint venture, or an association
  • Registered with the Registraire des entreprises
  • A tenant or owner of a non-residential building located in the Montréal agglomeration
  • Caution: do not begin installation until you have received confirmation of eligibility from the city

Financial assistance

The subsidy covers 50 per cent of the cost of the project and must be less than $100,000.

Maximum amounts are: 

  • $5,000 per connector of a Level 2 charging station (provided that all connectors can be used at the same time and each vehicle has a parking space during charging)
  • $15,000 per 20kW to 49kW fast charging station
  • $50,000 per 50kW and 99kW fast charging station
  • $75,000 per 100kW+ fast charging station

Eligible expenses

  • Professional engineering, architectural, data collection or logistics services related to the implementation and evaluation of the project
  • IT equipment required for the implementation of the project
  • Electric charging stations
  • Costs of building, installing and commissioning the electric charging station as well as its power supply
  • Licensing and permit fees

1. Download and complete the following documents:

Fill out the Declaration form - Charter of the French Language declaration (in French). See the Guide to the Charter of the French Language declaration (in French) for more information.

2. Prepare digital versions of the following supporting documents:

  • Current photograph of the part of the parking lot where the station(s) will be installed (.jpeg, .jpg or .png)
  • Proof of ownership or rental for the street address that appears on the application
  • Authorization from the owner (if applicable)
  • Document showing the amount of any subsidy paid or expected from another level of government or public body (if applicable)

    Calendar

    The application deadline is July 31, 2025.

    The project must be completed no later than September 30, 2025.

    The subsidy will be paid once the project is completed and found to comply with the applicable technical requirements as well as the regulations.

    Subsidy payment

    To receive your subsidy payment once the charging stations have been installed, you must provide the following documents:

    • Notice of project completion form (in French).
    • Invoices showing the actual cost of the project broken down by item. The number of electric charging stations that were installed, their type, unit cost, number and type of connectors, professional services and installation costs broken down by station must be shown.
    • Proof of payment of each invoice, other than by cash payment (e.g. copy of cashed cheque, copy of bank draft, bank account statement or credit card statement). Receipts, annotated invoices or receipts are not accepted.
    • Copy of any permits required for the project.
    • Document showing the amount of any subsidy paid or awaiting payment by the government of Canada or the government of Québec, their departments or agents or an organization referred to in section 5 of the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information (R.R.Q., chapter A-2.1).
    • Photographs of each electric recharging station, providing an overall view of the project and showing that, if the electric recharging station is intended for public use, it has been installed in a parking lot clearly identified for VEZ recharging purposes.
    • Any other document that applies to your situation.
