TNRM Program for street cats

Last updated August 11, 2021

Would you like to stabilize a cat colony in your neighbourhood? Participate in the Trap-Neuter-Release-Maintain (TNRM) program for street cats.

Description

The TNRM Program helps to reduce the overpopulation of street cats, improve their well-being, reduce euthanization and prevent rabies. To participate, you must apply to your borough for a permit and complete training offered by the SPCA. Some boroughs do not offer this program.

Volunteer responsibilities

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Identify and trap street cats.
  • Make an appointment with the SPCA to have them spayed free of charge.
  • Bring the cats back to the same place where you trapped them.
  • Make sure they have cat food, fresh water and a shelter for the winter.

To learn more about TNRM, visit the SPCA’s Web site.

Get a permit

Permits are free of charge and valid for one year. Some conditions apply.
