Bridges and tunnels: who's in charge?
Maintenance of Montreal’s bridges and tunnels is sometimes carried out by other municipalities, governments, Crown corporations or consortia. Find out which ones the city is involved with.
A joint responsibility
Montréal is responsible for maintaining most bridges and tunnels within its boundaries. In some cases, the work is carried out in partnership with the city of Repentigny, the Société du Parc Jean-Drapeau, the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) and the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP). Some bridges and tunnels are maintained exclusively by the city of Laval, The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, Concession A25 L.P., Parks Canada and Canadian National Railways (CN).
Here’s a list of the structures maintained by the city.
If there is a safety hazard, call 311 at any time to request immediate intervention.
