CDN-NDG Participatory Budgets
Do you have an idea for how to improve your neighbourhood? The Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Participatory Budget was created to collect ideas from residents and implement them as projects. Find out how you can participate.
The borough launched its first Participatory Budget in 2023 in an effort to meet the needs of residents and take a novel approach to listening to their suggestions. As part of this exercise, in-person workshops are held to work on, improve and refine the ideas submitted by residents with the objective of transforming them into projects.
The projects are then analyzed by internal teams to determine their feasibility. At the end of this process, the projects still in contention are presented to residents, who are asked to select the projects to implement via a popular vote.
The projects that garner the most votes are then completed by the borough within two years.

Participatory Budget 2023
The first edition of the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Participatory Budget ran from March until November 2023. Residents were invited to submit ideas under the following theme: The quality of life of families.
With a budget of $500,000, the inaugural edition culminated in 152 ideas being collected from residents. The ideas were then transformed into 53 projects, out of which 15 finalists were submitted to the popular vote.
The result, based on the 1,600 votes cast, led to the following 5 projects being selected for completion by the borough.
In the coming months, residents can track the progress of these projects here. For more on the first edition of the Participatory Budget, please visit Making Montreal.
