Construction on Avenue Pierre-De Coubertin: Status and impacts

The refurbishment of Avenue Pierre-De Coubertin could have consequences on your day-to-day travels. Here’s what you need to know about the project’s impacts and solutions put in place by the city to minimize them.

Travaux en cours

Between Boulevard Pie-IX and Rue Viau:

  • Refurbishment of underground infrastructures;
  • Widening of sidewalks to facilitate safe pedestrian travel;
  • Development of 1.7 km of protected bicycle paths;
  • Addition of 120 trees along the street to combat heat islands.
     

Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Avenue Pierre-De Coubertin between Boulevard Pie-IX and Avenue De LaSalle continues until the end of 2022.

Work on Phase 3, from Avenue De LaSalle to Rue Viau, will begin in August 2021 and will be completed by summer 2023.

Impacts and mitigation measures

Getting around during the project

  • Work is being performed zone by zone to limit the impacts;
  • Total and partial closures of Avenue Pierre-De Coubertin and cross streets are planned for areas under construction;
  • Detours will be put in place, marked by appropriate signage;
  • Flag persons will ensure traffic safety and fluidity;
  • Access to buildings, including truck access to businesses, will be maintained;
  • STM bus routes serving the area could be disturbed by work taking place. Bus users are invited to call 514-786-4636 for more information or consult the STM website;
  • Safe pedestrian traffic will be maintained during the project;
  • Pedestrian access to buildings will be maintained throughout the project.
