Impacts and mitigation measures

Getting around during the project

The reconstruction work will require closures in the work zones. Partial and complete street closures will take place. Detours will be provided for users.

Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times. The people in charge of the work will collaborate closely with merchants and institutions to minimize unforeseen blockages of their buildings and impacts on their daily activities.

Mitigation measures are put in place to improve mobility in the area, including maintaining local traffic, optimizing traffic light programming, and maintaining pedestrian corridors.

Automobile and pedestrian traffic

The work will be planned in such a way as to reduce obstructions to traffic in the area.

At each stage of the work, a traffic plan will be designed by a team of traffic management specialists in collaboration with Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension. The traffic concepts will be communicated to the population and put in place to maintain maximum mobility in the area.

Noise and attenuation measures

Construction work likely to make noise will be restricted to a limited schedule between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays. In compliance with municipal regulations and to maintain the project timetable, it might happen that work continues on the weekend.

The required excavations will generate vibrations that might be felt by residents close to the project. A firm of independent experts will be mandated to carry out surveys (especially photographic) of buildings neighbouring the site. These inspections are to document the condition of these properties before and after the work. In the unlikely event that damage is identified, an expert report could help to determine whether it is due to vibration caused by the construction. Properties subject to this procedure will be contacted by the city.
