Last updated October 10, 2024
Reading time: 1 min
Created as part of Ville de Montréal’s first participatory budget, the ecological corridor is a pathway linking biodiversity areas in LaSalle to protect nature in the city.
The objective is to increase plant biodiversity and promote the creation of habitats for pollinating insects, including butterflies, as well as hummingbirds, purple martins, bats and possibly the Lesser American Kestrel.
As you travel along the corridor, you will discover, among other things:
- biodiversity islands linking Parc des Rapides, at 4e Avenue, to Parc Angrignon
- pollination plots and wildlife facilities
- as well as signage and educational panels to provide information on various biodiversity-related themes
The benefits of an ecological corridor
- To create a network of eco-corridors linking the various existing biodiversity areas
- To provide favourable conditions for the movement and survival of insects and birds in an urban environment
- To improve public access to nature in the city
The Corridor écologique du grand Sud-Ouest also crosses through the Sud-Ouest borough.
