Boulevard Henri-Bourassa is being rebuilt. This project, which covers 1.5 km, aims to make the boulevard greener and more pedestrian and cyclist friendly.

When?

Work will begin in 2023 and will last for two years. 

Where?

  • Boulevard Henri-Bourassa, between Boulevard Pitfield and Avenue Félix-Leclerc

What?

Surface infrastructures:

  • Rebuilding of the road
  • Building new sidewalks, rebuilding or widening existing sidewalks
  • Building pedestrian islands at intersections
  • Creating one-way mid-height bicycle lanes 
  • Building curbside bus platforms
  • Planting trees and vegetation
  • Replacing lighting
  • Replacing and reprogramming traffic lights

  • Boulevard Henri-Bourassa, entre le boulevard Pitfield et l’avenue Félix-Leclerc

Quoi?

Infrastructures de surface:

  • reconstruction de la chaussée
  • construction de nouveaux trottoirs, reconstruction ou élargissement de trottoirs existants
  • construction de refuges piétons aux intersections
  • construction de voies cyclables unidirectionnelles à mi-niveau
  • construction de quais d’autobus en bordure de rue
  • plantation d’arbres et de végétaux
  • remplacement de l’éclairage
  • remplacement des feux de circulation et de leur programmation

Underground infrastructure: 

  • Building valve chambers
  • Rehabilitating water mains
  • Rebuilding assets belonging to Bell Canada and the Commission des services électriques de Montréal

Why?

The boulevard is being redeveloped to:

  • Encourage active mobility (on foot, by bike, on rollerblades, scooters, etc.)
  • Let people get around more safely and conveniently
  • Reduce heat islands

The underground infrastructure is being rebuilt to:

  • Ensure that the fire department service is reliable
  • Improve the reliability of the system and ensure a continuous supply of quality drinking water
  • Maintain quality services for future generations

Temporary interruptions to water supply

Interruptions to drinking water supply are planned during construction. Approximately 48 hours before each interruption, a door hanger card will provide the date, time and any other useful information for affected residents.
