Take advantage of the beautiful winter days to play various sports in Lachine.

Go sliding in a lively family atmosphere

Parc Grovehill, a well-known spot for sliding enthusiasts, is designed to provide you with an enjoyable winter experience.

At the beginning of the season, snow is blown onto the hill to ensure good snow cover in order to get the sliding season off to a good start. Lanes are set up to make the area safer for families.

During the week-end, a heated trailer provides a little warm-up space to take a break. Heated toilets are open everyday.

More information about the schedule of the trailer and the conditions of the hill that you may check before you go.

Ice skating in the parks

Do you like skating? You can choose from a number of outdoor rinks in the Borough.

  • Parc Carignan
  • Parc Dixie
  • Parc Kirkland
  • Parc LaSalle
  • Parc Michel-Ménard
  • Parc Rosewood
  • Behind 3051, boul. Saint-Joseph

Check the outdoor rinks conditions.
Chalets of four parks are open to give users a heated space in which to lace up their skates and leave their boots.

Check the schedules of the welcome centers of parc Carignan, parc Dixie, parc Kirkland and parc LaSalle.

Cross-country skiing along Lac Saint-Louis

Glide along the 21.3-km La Riveraine trail! Mechanically groomed, the trail begins at Parc Summerlea in Lachine, runs across LaSalle’s shoreline from end to end and finishes at Parc Arthur-Therrien in Verdun. La Riveraine also includes a loop in the magnificent Parc René-Lévesque.
However, for safety reasons, some sections of the trail will be inaccessible, for example from chemin du Canal to 6e Avenue, from 21e to 34e Avenue and under Honoré-Mercier bridge in LaSalle.

Check the conditions of the trails and the map.

Loan of sports equipment

The Bibliothèque Saul-Bellow has a variety of sports equipment for you to use to enjoy outdoor activities: sleds, crampons, walking sticks and snowshoes for children and adults. Starting December 15, you can borrow this equipment for up to 7 days by presenting your library card.
