Did you know that the staff at Lachine’s libraries offers you a number of services related to office automation and computer equipment?

Digital clinic for your devices

Bring your portable devices (computer, cellphone, tablet) to get help with their functions and applications.

Here are some examples of requests we can handle with you:

  • Setting up an email account
  • Basic computer clean-up
  • Getting a return slip for an online purchase
  • Transferring photos or videos from a device to a removable memory device (USB drive, hard drive) or to the cloud
  • Printing documents from your phone or tablet

To get advice from our staff, just come to the Info-adulte (adult info) desk at Bibliothèque Saul-Bellow on a first-come, first-served basis.

Here are the hours of this service from August 31-December 20, 2024:

  • Sundays, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Mondays, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Access to our computers

At the Bibliothèque Saul-Bellow and the Bibliothèque de Saint-Pierre libraries, desktop computers are available. Word processing and spreadsheet software have been installed. You can access the Internet, scan, print and photocopy your documents. Assistance in using our equipment is available to you as well. Just ask the customer service staff on the 2nd floor near the public computers (at Saul-Bellow) or 1st floor (at Saint-Pierre).

To connect using one of the library’s public computers, all you need is your library card number and password. Conditions for borrowing a tablet or laptop vary depending on your library.

Open sessions are 30 minutes long depending on the availability of work stations that are not reserved. The maximum time that these stations can be used each day is for three hours, for a total of 12 hours per week. They automatically end on the hour and half hour. To avoid being disconnected, you must make a reservation.
