With the holiday break now over, work operations at Square Phillips are starting again as planned, and work operations aimed at rehabilitating obsolete infrastructures on Avenue Union are starting.

Work operation resumed on Square Phillips and Avenue Union (Lot 2D) and closures of Avenue Union and Rue Cathcart

Nature of the work operations

As part of underground infrastructure work and the redevelopment of Square Phillips and Avenue Union (Lot 2D), work operations on Avenue Union include:

  • Reconstruction of access pits connected to the electrical network at the corner of Cathcart/Union.
  • Reconstruction of underground infrastructures (water supply, electrical, telecommunications and gas networks) on Avenue Union.
  • Start of permanent redevelopment work on Avenue Union in the spring of 2021 (with the completion of work operations scheduled for the end of summer 2021).

Impacts

Traffic obstacles

  • Complete closure of Avenue Union, between Cathcart and Sainte-Catherine O. (The northbound lane is already closed.)
  • Complete closure of Rue Cathcart, between Union and Place Phillips

Access to buildings

  • Access to stores and buildings maintained at all times.

Parking

  • Removal of on-street parking. Indoor parking spaces will remain accessible nearby.

Other impacts

  • Noise, vibrations and dust.

Work schedule

  • Weekdays, daytime (7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
    Possibility of work seven days a week (6.30 a.m.to 6 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 6 a.m.)
     

The planning and scheduling of work operations can change based on weather conditions and unexpected work site contingencies
