The history of beauty
Take par in this conference at the Pierrefonds Library.
Description
A conference inspired by the works of Umberto Eco, the great semiotician and the author of Nom de la rose and of two masterful works on beauty and ugliness throughout history.
We each have our own definition of beauty. We all react differently to a landscape, an urban scene, a human being or an animal. We often hear, “Wow! It’s stunning!” But what’s behind this emotion?
The speaker has spent many years studying esthetics. This conference aims to trigger the thought process and dialogue on the priority given to the concept of beauty in our civilization. It will also delve a little deeper and demonstrate the concept as it relates to classic and contemporary art.
In French. Adults.
