Reserve a videoconference room at the municipal court

Lawyers who wish to speak to a person held at a Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) detention centre can do so by reserving a videoconference room. Learn about the applicable procedure.

Videoconference rooms 

Three videoconference rooms have been set up in the meeting cubicles located behind municipal court room R. 40 . Each of the four operational centres is equipped with a videoconference room.

Lawyers who wish to speak privately and confidentially with defendants appearing in operational centres can use the videoconference rooms located in the meeting cubicles at the municipal court, after scheduling an appointment online.

Access to videoconference rooms

The meeting cubicles are accessible:

  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.
    • Two cubicles are reserved for meetings with detainees at operational centres.
    • One cubicle is reserved for meetings with detainees at the municipal court.
  • After 10:40 a.m., the cubicles are accessible to all lawyers without restriction.
  • On Saturdays, all the cubicles are reserved for video appearances.

Use of videoconference rooms during a hearing

When a lawyer wishes to speak to a client during a hearing, the following procedure applies:

  • The lawyer must first get authorization from the presiding judge.
  • The lawyer enters the meeting cubicles in compliance with the procedure in place.
  • The lawyer establishes communication with the videoconference room at the operations centre where the detainee is waiting.

In order to make a reservation online, you must:

  • Connect to the reservation platform to reserve a videoconference room at the municipal court of Montréal.
  • Choose an available time slot.
  • Have the name of your client and the operational centre where the client is being held.
