Black History Month 2024 in LaSalle

As part of the 33rd edition of Black History Month, the borough of LaSalle and its partners are organizing activities for you, to highlight the outstanding contribution of Black communities to Québec society.

Saturday, February 10

The LaSalle Multicultural Resource Center, the LaSalle Leaders and The Nigerian Canadian Association look forward to welcoming you to the Carrefour récréatif et communautaire de LaSalle for a Happy Hour, featuring a dance performance, an episode of a youth podcast, a speaker, networking, appetizers and cocktails.

Saturday, February 17

Bienvenue à l’immigrant and AIRSOM Centre-Prisme will be welcoming you to the LaSalle Community Comprehensive High School auditorium between 3 p.m. and 6 pm. They’ve prepared a three-part event: a story told through the spoken (poetry) and scenic (performance) arts as well as a discussion period featuring two female figures who have made an impact in the Black community, plus a female LaSalle entrepreneur, who will talk about the challenges facing Black women in Canada, their respective backgrounds and their vision of the contribution of Black communities to society.

Thursday, February 29

To close the festivities of Black History Month 2024, The Council for Black Aging Community of Montreal and the Montreal Caribbean Social Organization are organizing a large group discussion, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., on the contribution of Black people to Montréal and on health issues in Black communities. The activity will take place at the Montreal Carribbean Social Organization offices, located at 7401 boulevard Newman, and will include a dance performance by Studio TDC.
