The Course Saint-Laurent attracts close to 1400 runners
The traditional Course Saint-Laurent was held on Sunday, April 7, in the borough’s industrial and Bois-Franc neighbourhoods. A total of 1393 runners of all ages took part in the 1, 2, 5 and 10 km races.
The 31st edition of the event took place under a radiant sun, which set the perfect stage for outstanding performances:
- 1st place WOMEN - 10 km: Émy Legault from L’île-Perrot - 34 min. 42 sec.
- 1st place MEN - 10 km: François Jarry from Lachine - 31 min. 32 sec.
- 1st place WOMEN - 5 km: Sophie Courville from Club Saint-Laurent Sélect inc. - 17 min. 44 sec.
- 1st place MEN - 5 km: Jérémy Briand from Sainte-Julie - 14 min. 37 sec.
The big winners in the Défi scolaire were École primaire Murielle-Dumont and École secondaire Sophie-Barat. The Défi corporatif was won by the Centre des technologies de l’eau with Cégep de Saint-Laurent and the Arrondissement de Saint-Laurent placed second, with 23 municipal employees participating.
Some 50 volunteers contributed to the success of this athletic event organized by the Club d’athlétisme Saint-Laurent Sélect inc. in collaboration with the Arrondissement de Saint-Laurent and other partners, including the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal. The Course Saint-Laurent is part of the Circuit endurance, a series of races that have been held across Quebec for the past 30 years.
