Eight Intersections in LaSalle to Be Made Safer and Greener
This fall, the Borough will be carrying out work to make eight intersections—near health care facilities, parks, sports facilities and seniors’ residences—safer and greener.
In addition to increasing safety along LaSalle’s streets, this work will help reduce heat islands and limit the amount of stormwater entering the sewers. The new improvements will therefore support ecological measures, such as water infiltration into vegetated soils, runoff and evapotranspiration.
More specifically, the work involves…
- installing curb extensions
- adding sidewalks and universal access ramps
- making intersections safer
- eliminating certain paved surfaces
- planting resilient vegetation wherever possible
- installing an electric vehicle charging station (BRVE) at the corner of avenue Stirling and rue Beauchamp
- and more
…at the following intersections:
- rue Allard, between avenue Irwin and rue Viola-Desmond
- rue Jean-Brillon and rue Rancourt
- avenue Latour and rue Beyries
- Bouvier and Jacqueline-Sicotte streets
- LaSalle and Champlain boulevards
- avenue Stirling and rue Beauchamp
- George and Gagné streets
- George and Raymond streets
Redeveloping these intersections will help improve universal accessibility, safety and the quality of living environments for LaSalle residents, especially seniors and vulnerable users.
