Restoration of the Fleming Mill, a listed heritage building, began this spring and will continue until early fall 2024.

As it may be recalled, the mill was damaged by strong gusts of wind in 2019. The purpose of the restoration work is to preserve the authenticity of this Anglo-Saxon mill, built in 1827, an emblem of the Borough since 1982.

Highlights of the restoration work include:

  • stone masonry cladding and cedar shingles
  • the vertical boards, wooden gallery (with the addition of perforated metal panels), doors and windows, in accordance with the original 1827 building
  • blades and drive shaft with metal reinforcements, in accordance with the 1990 design

The lighting will also be redesigned in order to enhance this  outstanding heritage building.

The work is being funded almost equally by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications, Ville de Montréal and the Borough of LaSalle.
