Highlights of Saint-Laurent’s 2023 Financial Report were presented during the Council meeting held on June 4.

In accordance with the Charter of Ville de Montréal, which stipulates that at a regular Council meeting held in June, the Borough mayor must report to residents on the highlights of the financial results, the Saint-Laurent Mayor, Alan DeSousa, tabled his Highlights of Saint-Laurent’s 2023 Financial Report at the Council meeting held on June 4.

In addition to presenting the details of the 2023 budget, including expenditures incurred under the 10-Year Capital Expenditure Program, the Mayor presented a review of the year’s achievements in the various aspects of municipal administration.

Among the 2023 highlights, Mr. DeSousa specifically underscored the following:

  • Launch of an extensive street parking review initiative;
  • Opening of a technological showcase at the Centre d’expertise industrielle de Montréal;
  • Opening of the renovated Maison Robert-Bélanger;
  • Start of Phase 2 of the Biodiversity Corridor;

  • Invitation to the business community to participate in Solaris, an energy loop experimentation program;
  • Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Bibliothèque du Boisé in the presence of the writer and writer and member of the Académie française Dany Laferrière.

What’s more, the Mayor of Saint-Laurent highlighted the 65,179 persons served by the Bureau du citoyen, the 828 housing units approved by the Advisory Committee on Planning; the 981 new trees planted; the value of construction permits awarded totalling $587.4 million; and the $9 million invested in road, sidewalks, and curbs by Montréal and Saint-Laurent.

“In 2023, our administration experienced a year marked by keen optimism. This is reflected by several indicators including the substantial increase in the value of building permits and the completion of projects highlighting both Saint-Laurent’s heritage, with the opening of Maison Robert-Bélanger, and its strong energy savings potential with the announcement of the Solaris program in the industrial sector.”
