The Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsable recently awarded L’Entrepôt, maison de la culture de Lachine, its Scène écoresponsable Platinum certification. This is one of the organization’s highest levels of recognition.

For a number of years now, staff at L’Entrepôt, maison de la culture de Lachine, have been working hard to reduce their environmental footprint. A committee meets on a regular basis to propose changes in food management, communications, energy and resource conservation, social commitment, waste management and governance.

With its recent Platinum certification, L’Entrepôt is definitely a leader in Québec as an eco-responsible venue.

Examples of concrete actions

  • Eliminating plastic water bottles and encouraging the use of refillable ones
  • Using rechargeable batteries for microphones and walkie-talkies
  • Re-using materials during mediation activities
  • Having shared materials for community organizations using the venue
  • Having compost bins in several locations, including in the loges
  • Repairing materials instead of replacing them. For example, L’Entrepôt uses the services of a seamstress to repair the canvas of its tents
  • Welcoming GRAME booths during musical picnics, for example
  • Offering stage time and a technical crew to performers with less financial means, through performer residencies
  • Donating tickets to the Accès Loisirs Lachine program for distribution to low-income people
  • Increasing the number of free shows

Scène écoresponsable certification from the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables is designed for venues seeking recognition for their sustainable development initiatives.
