The Borough has been informed by Ville de Montréal that the Pitfield bridge in Pierrefonds-Roxboro will be partially reopened early Wednesday morning, June 12. Removal of the obstructions will take place on Tuesday night, and the lanes will be reopened to traffic by 6 a.m.

Analyses carried out over the past few days have shown that it is possible to reopen a lane in the center of each bridge, in complete safety for users. Truckers using these structures will have to comply with the overload limits in force prior to the precautionary closure, and surveillance will be increased.

Samples taken over the past few days have shown that the apparent cracks have not spread within the structure of the two bridges. As a result, there are no additional measures to be deployed in the short term. However, reinforcement work will be planned over the coming months, and should be carried out without further closure of the bridges to traffic.

On May 31, the Ville de Montréal preventively closed the Pitfield bridge following an inspection that revealed the development of cracks on both structures. The deployment of inspection teams the day after the event enabled the structures to be quickly restored to use by residents. The Ville de Montréal would like to thank the residents for their understanding and cooperation.
