This month, the SPVM’s neighbourhood police station (PDQ) 13 installed mobile photo radar on rue Lapierre, just in front of the new LaSalle high school. The device will ensure that speed limits are respected on this stretch of road used by many students every day.

In addition to LaSalle high school, Cégep André-Laurendeau and l’Orée du bois elementary school are also located on rue Lapierre. PDQ 13 is therefore taking advantage of the start of the new year to prevent speeding in this critical area.

Prevention first

Although this project has been launched mainly for prevention purposes, motorists exceeding the 30 km/h limit can expect a nasty surprise. When the radar detects a speeding vehicle, a statement of offence will be mailed to the owner.

Many prevention tips and good practices to adopt when travelling can be found in the Road Safetysection of the SPVM’s website.
