Unveiling of Participatory Budget projects

Published December 4, 2024 - 7:00 am

Côte-des-Neige-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce residents chose 5 projects to improve their neighborhood. Check out the winning projects.

The people of CDN-NDG have chosen these neighborhood projects! The results of online and paper votes identified 5 winning projects that will be realized with a budget of $500,000 over the next two years. You chose:

  1. Local food market - $150,000
  2. Pollinator oasis - $75,000
  3. Microforest - $40,000
  4. Beautifying sidewalks on Queen-Mary - $100,000
  5. Outdoor exercise stations - $135,000*

2,465 of you have cast a ballot online, at one of our nine voting stations or via our Participative Boutique.

This year, many more citizens took part in one of the 4 stages of our Participatory Budget. The projects selected are the result of the number of votes received and the allocation of a score according to the project’s prioritization on each ballot.

The success of this 2nd edition is due to your increased interest in improving your neighborhood. From the 385 ideas received at Stage 1 last March, you have interacted throughout Stages 2 and 3 to turn ideas into projects. Thank you for your participation, which will help improve access to healthy food, the environment, the well-being of common spaces and recreational facilities.

The next step? Your Borough is committed to carrying out the 5 projects chosen by the public. The winning projects from the first edition are well advanced. Two projects have already been completed!

*In order to stay within the total budget of $500,000, the cost of the Outdoor Exercise Stations project has been reduced. This will make it possible to carry out the 5 projects prioritized by the public during the vote.

  • Select their 5 favorite projects from the list of 18.
  • Rank the 5 selected projects in order of importance from 1 to 5.

The average ranking for each project was calculated; winning projects were determined by order of preference, until the $500,000 budget had been reached.
