Description
The Complexe environnemental de Saint-Michel (CESM) processes and converts waste, conducts research and offers education about environmental topics.
A large part of the CESM is used for environmental purposes.
It is home to:
- A sorting centre, where all of Montrealers' recyclables are sent
- An electrical plant, which converts all the biogases produced at the landfill into electricity
- Composting and wood chipping sites
The CESM is surrounded by one of Montréal's largest green spaces, the Parc Frédérick-Back.
