Roundtable on Nightlife: Call for applications
Are you interested in or part of Montréal’s nighttime culture and economy? Do you hold valuable expertise in connection with this activity sector? Submit your application to become a co-opted member of the Roundtable on Nightlife.
Description
To ensure the success of Montréal’s Nightlife Policy, the city has set up a special roundtable on the issue.
This roundtable will include a diversity of members to reflect the range of stakeholders and skills that lend vitality to the city’s nightlife.
Call for expressions of interest
This call for expressions of interest is intended for people who wish to submit applications to serve as co-opted members. The application deadline is January 20, 2025.
This is a 2-year commitment involving 4 meeting per year, including 2 in-person meetings. Members can also take part in ad hoc committees.
Mission of the Roundtable
The roundtable will play a leading advisory role. It will provide opinions and recommendations aimed at informing decision-making and will actively work to find solutions.
The roundtable will fulfil a threefold mandate:
- Support the implementation of the actions set out in the Policy to ensure their applicability, in compliance with the mission, competencies and capacities of each party.
- Promote dialogue between stakeholders to develop a clear and updated vision of the challenges and advantages of a nightlife ecosystem.
- Establish working groups on issues such as regulations, cohabitation with neighbouring residents, noise management, programming, social and community issues, development of the public space, etc.
Composition
The 32-member roundatable will have 2 co-chairs, 15 appointed members and 15 co-opted members.
Co-chairmanship
Responsible for culture, heritage, gastronomy and nightlife on the city’s executive committee
Person appointed by the responsible elected official to represent the nightlife culture community.
For the roundtable’s initial mandate, the co-chairs are:
- Ericka Alneus, executive committee member responsible for culture, heritage, gastronomy and nightlife
- Jenny Thibault, general and artistic director of the SAT

Addition of 2 categories to come: Establishments and Nightlife Hubs will be added when designations will be effective.
Selection process
⦁ Current call for expressions of interest: Co-opted members will be selected by the co-chairs and appointed members.
⦁ Subsequent recruitment rounds: The co-opted members will be selected by all members of the roundtable.

To submit your application to serve as a co-opted member, please send us the following items by January 20, 2025:
- Application form
- 500-word text (2 pages) or 3-minute video explaining your interest in and motivation for joining the roundtable, in relation to the target category
- 500-word text (2 pages) or 3-minute video summarizing your experience or expertise in relation to the target category
