Call for projects: 2021-22 “Montréal Interculturel” program

Are you a non-profit organization working in the fields of social development or intercultural relations? The city would like to invite you to submit a project that promotes ethnocultural diversity and opportunities for dialogue to fight against discrimination and racism.

Description

The 2021-22 “Montréal Intercultural” program call for projects has been made possible through a fund from the city under its agreement with the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration  (MIFI-Ville 2021-24). 

Organizations can submit projects in one or both components of the program. 

Component 1:  Strengthening intercultural ties

Objectives

The project must meet one of the following two objectives: 

  • Promote intercultural relations among the population in Montréal through mediation and dialogue, using an educational approach. 
  • Educate communities about racism and discrimination issues.

Funding

Total budget: $600,000
Component 1 of the program aims to support projects with contributions ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 maximum.

Project submission deadline

You have until June 7, 2021 to submit a project through the GSS platform (in French).  

Component 2: Promoting ethnocultural diversity    

Objectives

The project must meet one of the following two objectives:

  • Recognize and promote the contribution of various ethnocultural groups to Montréal society.
  • Raise public awareness of ethnocultural diversity.
  • Promote dialogue to fight racism and discrimination. 

Funding

Total budget:  $200,000

This component aims to support one-time events (workshops, community meetings, etc.) with a maximum cost of $10,000, until the fund is exhausted. 

Project submission period

Projects are receivable throughout the duration of the fund through September 30, 2022. You must apply through the GSS platform (in French).

Eligibility criteria

Organizations that are recognized as non-profits by the Registraire des entreprises du Québec can submit an application.

These organizations must: 

  • Have operated on the island of Montréal for at least two years.
  • Have significant knowledge of issues that affect strengthening intercultural ties and promoting ethnocultural diversity. 
  • Have relevant experience that is related to the project they submit.

Eligible projects

  • Take place in Montréal
  • Offer activities free of charge or at a nominal cost in order to promote participation 
  • Integrate gender-differentiated analysis
  • Meet the “Montréal Intercultural” program’s objectives

Project delivery

Projects must begin between September 2021 and December 2022.

Projects must be submitted through the Service de la diversité et de l’inclusion sociale’s subsidy management platform, GSS.
