Musical instrument loans

Last updated April 1, 2021

Thanks to the Sun Life Musical Instrument Lending Library, Montréal residents can borrow a musical instrument from several libraries for a period of three weeks, with an option to renew.

Several types of musical instruments are available, including violins, guitars, keyboards, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, balalaikas, drums, xylophones and other percussion instruments.

Local collection

Each library lends only the instruments from its collection.

If the desired instrument is available through another library, it can be reserved by telephone, but must be picked in person and returned to the same location.

Only one instrument

Only one instrument at a time can be borrowed using a library card. The card holder must be 14 years old or older to borrow an instrument.

Duration of the loan

Three weeks, renewable three times, except if someone else reserves the instrument in the interim.
