Musical instrument loans

Last updated February 20, 2025

Did you know that you can borrow a musical instrument from your local library?

Description

String, percussion and electronic instruments

Take your pick from a range of musical instruments: Violins, guitars, keyboards, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, drums, xylophones and other percussion instruments.

You can also borrow sheet music and find methods for learning to play an instrument.

How to reserve an instrument

Each library lends only the instruments from its collection.

Search the Nelligan catalogue to find all the musical instruments available and which libraries offer them.

Reserve an instrument by phone or at the loan counter at your library.

If the instrument you want is available through another library, you must pick it up in person and return it to the same location.

Duration of loan

Only one instrument at a time can be borrowed using a library card. The card holder must be age 14 or older. Loans are for 3 weeks and can be renewed up to 3 times, unless someone else has reserved the instrument.
