Four municipal buildings are making feminine hygiene products available to their users free of charge until November 2021. The Ahuntsic library, the Botanical Garden, the Centre Jean-Claude Malépart and the Lucien-Saulnier building (temporarily city hall) are participating in this pilot project.

Providing access to feminine hygiene products when the need arises

Vending machines that provide free tampons and sanitary napkins have been installed in the women’s washrooms at the Botanical Gardens, the Centre Jean-Claude Malépart and at city hall. At the Ahuntsic library, baskets containing these products are available to users at the reception desk and in the washrooms.

A pilot project to reduce menstrual insecurity

This project will allow the city to assess the requirements and challenges of a similar distribution on a metropolitan-wide scale. This Montréal initiative aims to reduce menstrual insecurity for vulnerable people by investing in menstrual hygiene and health.
