Artists, artist collectives and non-profit property managers that work in the arts community can get a number of subsidies to offer or fill affordable studio spaces.

Discover two programs and one initiative that contribute to the development and longevity of artists’ studios and encourage their presents.

Subsidy for visual artists and craftspeople

This program is for visual artists and craftspeople with a studio in a non-residential building or part of a non-residential building where they produce original work.

Subsidy to renovate buildings that house artists’ studios

This program offers subsidies to arts organizations and property managers to support the development of affordable studio spaces. It has three complementary and independent components: Planning a studio project, executing renovation work and stabilizing the project before and after construction work.

This financial assistance aims primarily to serve professional visual artists and craftspeople.

Leases and the arts

Artists who want to learn more about their rights as studio tenants and how to negotiate their lease can view these informative videos and read a guide (in French).

Programs are made possible through a financial contribution from the city in partnership with the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the Conseil des arts de Montréal.
