Subsidies for artists in the visual arts and craft arts

Last updated February 2, 2024

Through this program, visual arts and crafts artists who occupy a studio for creation of original artistic expression or research can obtain financial assistance.

Description

This subsidy is intended for professional artists in the visual arts or arts and crafts who occupy an immovable or part of an immovable used as an artist’s studio for the production of original works of research or expression. The subsidy is granted under Section 92 of the Municipal Powers Act (QLR, c. C-47.1).

Since 2020 this program is jointly managed by the Service de la culture de la Ville de Montréal and the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM).

An applicant only needs to present one request; if they are eligible, they will receive the grant in two installments, corresponding to the City’s contribution and the Conseil des arts de Montréal’s contribution. Subsequently, a Conseil team member will contact artists who are determined to be eligible for the program to gather any information needed to complete their file, in particular, a social insurance number.

There are two versions of the form:

NOTE: Make sure that you have all the necessary materials before starting your application, in particular your supplier number and the supporting documents that will be used to assess your eligibility for the program.
