Female immigration to Canada 1617-1760
Conference with historian and genealogist, Marcel Fournier.
Description
The Quebec native population began with the 10,000 pioneers who travelled from Nouvelle France during the French regime, including nearly 2200 women. We know a lot about our male ancestors however, less is known about the different aspects of female immigration other than the filles du roi and nuns who have been covered by numerous publications in recent years. This conference will help participants better understand the importance of this form of immigration between 1617 and 1760, and to discover the key migratory periods, especially in the 17th century.
In French. Adults.
