Report a lost or stolen library card

Did you lose your library card or have it stolen? Report it. The card will be cancelled and you will be able to replace it at little cost or free of charge if the card is stolen.

Stolen card

As a library subscriber, you are responsible for the use of your card. If you lose it, it must be cancelled to prevent other people from using it in your name.

You can report a lost card at the service counter or by telephone.

If you wish to replace it, a fee will be applied.

Fees to replace a lost or stolen library card

The following fees apply regardless of your place of residence.

Stolen card

Replacing a stolen card is free of charge if you show a police report or an incident number.

Required documents

Show one form of photo ID from among the following options:

  • Birth certificate in French or in English showing your date and place of birth
  • Citizenship card
  • Permanent resident card
  • Québec health insurance card
  • Passport in French or in English showing your date and place of birth
  • Driver’s license

Show one form of proof of address from among the following options:

  • School or municipal tax account
  • Bill from a public utility (electricity, telephone, gas or cable provider) that is less than three months old
  • Bill from an educational institution that is less than three months old
  • Driver’s license
  • Monthly statement from a credit or financial institution that is less than three months old
