What will you do during your term of office?

As a member of the Conseil jeunesse (CJL), you will have the opportunity to join committees on matters of interest and work on projects or events as part of a team. You will also participate in monthly meetings to discuss topics that young people consider to be priorities. You will also follow up on files, write recommendations and opinions for the Borough’s elected officials and Administration.

CJL members will benefit from logistical support provided by the Borough as well as various types of training. This council is open to 12 volunteer members and is intended to be as representative as possible of Lachine youth.

Am I eligible to become a Council member?

Yes, if you meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Be between 15 and 25 years old by the application deadline
• Live in the Borough of Lachine
• Be available a minimum of 3 hours per month (possibility of more hours of involvement depending on each person’s availability as well as special files and projects handled by the CJL)
• Not be an active member of a political party, in order to ensure the non-partisan nature of the CJL
• Want to get involved as a group in the interest of the young people of Lachine
