Organic waste collections: delays and temporary adjustments
The new Saint-Laurent organics processing center is currently facing a seasonal overload due to the increased volume of leaf bags in addition to regular organic waste. This exceptional load is causing delays in collections in Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
Temporary measures in place
To reduce the pressure on the Saint-Laurent center, we have implemented two temporary solutions:
• Prioritization of leaf collections: Leaf bags are now collected separately and transported to the Saint-Michel Environmental Complex, which is temporarily accepting these loads to help speed up the process.
• New transfer site: An additional processing site is now accepting organic waste from affected areas in the West Island of Montreal. This will help free up trucks, speed up collections, reduce congestion at the Saint-Laurent center, and facilitate a quicker return to normal operations.
What to do while you wait
There is no need to call 311. Please leave any uncollected bags or bins at the curb, and they will be picked up in the following days. We are actively working to resolve the situation and appreciate your patience and understanding!
