Open or closed: Holiday schedule for offices, facilities and services

During the holidays, some Montréal facilities will be closed and some services may be offered according to different schedules.

Below is a list of Montréal facilities and services that will be open or closed on Thanksgiving, the holiday season, Easter (Good Friday and Easter Monday), Victoria Day, June 24 and July 1 and Labour Day.

Thanksgiving Day

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials, food waste, green waste and dead leaves will take place across the city.

Holiday season

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials and food waste will take place across the city, with the following exceptions:

Ahuntsic-Cartierville: 

Saint-Sulpice District: Collections of household waste on December 25 and January 1 are advanced to December 23 and 30. Collections of recyclable materials on December 25 are postponed to December 29. Collections of recyclable materials on January 1 are cancelled.

Sault-au-Récollet District: Collections of food waste on December 25 and January 1 are advanced to December 23 and 30.

Anjou: Collections on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2.

Lachine: Collections of recyclable materials on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2.

LaSalle: Collections of recyclable materials on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2. Collections of household waste and food waste on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 27 and January 3.

Le Plateau-Mont-Royal: Collections of household waste, bulky items, and food waste on December 25 and January 1st are postponed to December 26 and January 2. Collections of recyclable materials on December 25 and January 1 are maintained.

Le Sud-Ouest: Collections on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 29 and January 5.

Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve : in some sectors of Mercier-Est and Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, collections on December 25 and January 1 are advanced to December 23 and December 30. 

Montréal-Nord: Collections of recyclable materials on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2.

Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles: Collections on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2. From December 26 to January 4, collections hours may extend into the evening.

Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie: Collections on December 25 and January 1 are advanced to December 23 and 30.

Saint-Laurent:

Sector 3: Collections of household waste on December 25 are postponed to December 26. Collections of bulky items on January 1 are postponed to January 2.
Sector 4: Collections of recyclable materials and food waste on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2.

Saint-Leonard: Collections of recyclable materials on December 25 and January 1 are advanced to December 23 and 30. Collections of food waste on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 27 and January 3. 

Ville-Marie: No collections on December 25 and January 1. Collections of bulky items are postponed on December 28 and January 4. Collections of recyclable materials are postponed to December 27 and January 3.

Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension:

Saint-Michel District: Collections of household waste and recyclable materials on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2. 

François-Perrault District: Collections of food waste on December 25 and January 1 are postponed to December 26 and January 2.

Easter

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials, food waste, green waste and dead leaves will take place across the city.

Ahuntsic-Cartierville: Collections of green waste and dead leaves will take place depending of weather conditions.

Victoria Day 

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials, food waste, green waste and dead leaves will take place across the city.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day 

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials, food waste, green waste and dead leaves will take place across the city.

Canada Day

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials, food waste, green waste and dead leaves will take place across the city.

Labour Day

Collections of household waste, bulky items, recyclable materials, food waste, green waste and dead leaves will take place across the city.

The opening hours remain the same, with the following exceptions:

Thanksgiving Day: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Holiday season

  • December 25: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • December 26: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • January 1: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
  • January 2: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m

Easter (Good Friday and Easter Monday): 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Victoria Day: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

June 24: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

July 1: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Labour Day: 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thanksgiving Day: Closed

Holiday season: Closed from December 24 to January 2 inclusively.

Easter: Closed Good Friday and Easter Monday

Victoria Day: Closed

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day: Closed

Canada Day: Closed

Labour Day: Closed

Holiday season: Closed from December 24 to January 2st inclusively

Easter: Open Good Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Closed Easter Monday

Victoria Day: Open

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day: Open

Canada Day: Open

Labour Day: Open

The Biodome, the Biosphère, the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium and the Planetarium are open.

Only cases of persons in custody will be processed in court during this period at the building on 775 Rue Gosford.

Thanksgiving Day:Closed

Holiday season:

The call centre and the municipal court main office will be closed December 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31 and January 1 and 2 inclusively. 

Applications for stays of execution : to be confirmed 

Easter: Closed Good Friday and Easter Monday

Victoria Day: Closed

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day:Closed

Canada Day: Closed

Labour Day: Closed

The city’s administrative offices and borough halls are closed on October 14.

Parking restrictions remain in effect on holidays.
