Following the announcement of the preventive closure of the Pitfield twin bridges by the City of Montreal, due to the discovery of cracks requiring further analysis, the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro requested a report on the situation, which was presented at the council meeting on June 3.

Aware of the major impact this closure has on the mobility of residents, the borough administration was keen to obtain explanations from the City of Montreal’s Bridges and Tunnels section.

According to the information provided, the preventive closure of the bridges is the result of a general inspection that revealed the development of certain cracks already identified on the two structures in the past.

The day after the closures, detailed inspections were initiated in order to obtain the results as quickly as possible. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the analysis and preferred solutions will be known in a timeframe of approximately two weeks.
