Green alleyways

Last updated June 1, 2020

Thinking of creating a green alleyway in your neighbourhood? There are several steps involved in doing so, from mobilizing local residents to obtaining the support available through your borough.

A green alleyway is a people-friendly space created by residents to promote social interaction among neighbours. It also provides a safe play area for children.

Green alleyways reduce heat island effects and improve air quality. They also make our neighbourhoods safer by reducing vehicle traffic.

Montréal’s boroughs provide support aimed at helping residents complete their green alleyway projects.
