In Montréal, all cats and dogs must be microchipped. Here is everything you need to know.
Microchipping is a permanent method of identifying the owner of a lost pet so that he or she can be contacted. Since January 1, 2020, all cats and dogs older than 6 months must be microchipped.
If microchipping is contraindicated for your pet, you are required to provide us with a veterinarian’s note citing the reasons why that is the case. This information will be recorded in your file.
For further information concerning microchipping , please visit the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec Web site (in French).
