In Montréal, all cats and dogs must be microchipped.
Here is everything you need to know.
Beginning September 1, 2020, proof of spaying/neutering and microchipping of your pet will be required again, and late fees will apply.
Please note that legislation is still in effect and it is important that you comply with it.
Microchipping is a permanent method of identifying the owner of a lost pet so that he or she can be contacted.
Since January 1, 2020, all cats and dogs older than 6 months must be microchipped.
If microchipping is contraindicated for your pet, you are required to provide us with a veterinarian’s note citing the reasons why that is the case. This information will be recorded in your file.
For further information concerning microchipping , please visit the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec Web site (in French).
